UN Millenium Development Goal campain started in Tattamangalam
More than 100 people participated. 85 School students and about 20 others joined in the Human chain and pledge taking.
Pledge was prompted by Dr. Madhavanunni. Sri.S.Guruvayurappan made the Background and introduction to the MDG progrms, Sri. Chandran, Mrs. Pankajakshi, Sr. K.K.Menon, Sri Rajendran spoke. Sri Radhakrishnan, Sri. Srinivasan, and many more contributed their efforts for the success of the program.
The progrm ended by 6.10 pm

How to Do
Steps for Organizing the Campaign Event
a)the date of event in your city,
b)Venue of event,
c)Participants representing civil society, media, peoples' representatives, government officials
government different sections of the society and individuals
d)Key speakers
e)Mobilization targets (school, college, NGOs etc) methods and schedule
f)Communication materials to be used
g)Logistics (mikes, chairs, podium/stage)
h)Sponsors and contributors
i)Events or sessions to be organized-skits, film, street theatre etc. and the groups who will perform
that
j)Action plan/ Time line for preparation of event- what will be done when and by whom
Stand up for 2 minutes, anywhere, any place, any time, light a lamp/candle, then read the United Nations pledge, to support and create awareness of the millennium development goals. 16 October 2009 also coincides with The World Food Day and Stand Up events on this day can additionally be clubbed with organizing free lunch programs for the poor.

What to do

b) Choose the MC for the event (could be any known person)

g) Request key speakers representing government, corporate sector and NGOs to briefly speak on MDG, its status, success stories and its global implications on growth and human development;
h) Unfold other planned/undertaken action - such as collection of monetary for Art of Living's
Education Initiatives in India, tree plantation, free lunch programs, information kiosks, each one
teach one programs or any such action planned locally that focus on poverty alleviation, education and environment and are related to achieving MDG .
Where-
Any/every open public space, campus/halls of NGOs, public or private institutions where the
number of people targeted to mobilized can be accommodated. Choose open space where hundreds of people can light lamp/ candle- preferably; (schools, colleges, universities, campus of government or corporate offices, townships shopping malls, community halls, market place, parks, venue of music concerts, carnivals, fairs, sports events or your own venue of event)

“We, the volunteers and Friends of The Art of Living and Transparency International are taking part in the “SPEED UP THE MDG CAMPAIGN”
And we stand up because we are asking not for charity, but justice. We know that in our names world leaders have already made promises to bring this to an end - they are called the Millennium Development Goals.
What is needed today, is the political will to achieve and exceed these goals.
We ask you, Great Leaders of This Country, to achieve real transparency and accountability in how money is spent, to tackle inequality, to root out corruption. And for Achieving the Millennium development Goals.
We have taken Bold Steps in contributing Towards The MDG Goal Number 1 of ending Extreme Poverty and Hunger, MDG 2 of Achieving Universal Primary Education and MDG 7 of Ensuring Environment Sustainability and we will continue our efforts.
We are six billion voices, Standing Together Demanding Action! Demanding Justice and that the Millennium Development Goals are Met at Any Cost.

standup and speedup 2009: സംസ്ഥാന പരിപാടികളുടെ ഉല്ഘാടനം നരവംശ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞന് ഡോക്ടര് പി. ആര. ജി. മാത്തൂര് നിര്വഹിച്ചു.
ഐക്യ രാഷ്ട്ര സഭയുടെ 'മില്ലേനിയം കാമ്പൈന്' ഭാഗമായി, 2015 ഓടെ ലോകത്തിലെ ദാരിദ്രിയ നിര്മാര്ജനത്തിനായി വിവിധ പ്രവര്ത്തനങ്ങള് ആര്ട്ട് ഓഫ് ലിവിംഗ് ഫൌണ്ടേഷന്ലൂടെ ഇന്ത്യയില് നടപ്പിലാക്കുന്നു. 3 വര്ഷമായി നടക്കുന്ന പ്രവര്ത്തനങ്ങള് ഇക്കൊല്ലം standup and speedup 2009 എന്ന പേരിലാണ് നടക്കുന്നത്.
ഇതിന്റെ സംസ്ഥാന തല പരിപാടികളുടെ ഉല്ഘാടനം പാലക്കാട് കൊപ്പം ലയന്സ് ഹാളില് പ്രമുഖ നരവംശ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞന് ഡോക്ടര് പി. ആര്. ജി. മാത്തൂര് നിര്വഹിച്ചു. തുടര്ന്ന് നടന്ന സെമിനാറില് പ്രൊഫ. കെ.സുരേഷ്ബാബു പരിസ്ഥിതി സന്തുലനവും സുസ്ഥിര വികസനം എന്ന വിഷയത്തിലും; ശ്രീ ലളിത് ബാബു വിവരാവകാശ നിയമം എന്ന വിഷയത്തിലും പ്രഭന്തങ്ങള് അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു.

Seminar on Sustainable Environemnt and Right to information Act

Mission green earth inaugurated by planting Redsandal and Mahagani at Kollengode.
Mission Green Earth inaugurated in Palakkad district at Aashrayam Rural Development society office by Adv.Santhadevi, State Apex body member of Art of living.
Household planting operations started at 10 am by planting a redsandal and a Mahagani tree sapling in a muslim house at kollengode. immeditely placing the plant in the pit, nature's blessing by drissling rain was a surprise to all. The rain stopped in a minutes time!
As part of eradicating poverty in the whole world, United nations set millennium goals in which environmental protection activities were highlighted as prior concern. To achieve the goals, Art of living foundation is conducting world wide program in 170 countries. In India, planting 10 crore plants is set as target. Forest department and other governmental and nongovernmental agencies join in this campaign.
In this second year in the month of south west monsoon season, 53000 plants will be planted in households in the state of Kerala through various voluntary agencies. This will be documented in such a manner that each plant will be given a serial number, name, owner’s name and address and phone number, location of the plant, will be documented and will be verified its growth seasonally. In addition to this another 47000 plants will be planted in public places with the same type of documentation. In this way a total of one lack plants will be planted in the state. Kerala forest department is collaborating with this program. Local bodies, NGOs and voluntariy workers join this program.
Today 590 plants were planted and documented in Kollengode region as part of inaugural function.200 plants given to students in
chittur thekkegramam area. 60 aashrayam volunteers rendered their service today.

Krishnakumari teacher, Widlife Protection society of india project officer mr. S.Guruvayurappan, Aashrayam secretary Mr.Ashok nemmara, delivered speeches, Mr.Prabhuladas,Mr. Satheesh, mr.K.C Praveen of Aashrayam led the campaign.
